Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Acting Secretary Jim O. Sampulna challenges officials and rank-and-file employees of the Department to live up to the oath of government employees during the resumption of the agency’s flag raising ceremony on March 7 after a two-year hiatus due to the threats of COVID-19. Sampulna, who turned emotional while sharing his rise-through-the-ranks story, encouraged the rank-in-file employees to work hard and to pursue further studies to advance their respective careers. The DENR chief committed to expedite the process of filling up vacant positions in DENR offices nationwide which is often raised during budget hearings in Congress. Sampulna, a native of Mindanao, took over the Department after former Secretary Roy A. Cimatu resigned in February due to health reasons. ###
