The Philippine Government led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) held on May 8, 2023 a pre-launch meeting on the country’s hosting of the 2024 Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) at the Philippine International Convention Center. During the meeting, representatives from other government agencies, including the Department of National Defense who will co-chair the Organizing Interagency Committee with the DENR, the Department of Tourism, and the business sector represented by ARISE Philippines and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation expressed their commitments to assure the success of the event. The official launch of the event will be in October, signaling the start of the year-long preparations for the 2024 APMCDRR to be held on October 14-17, 2024, when around 3,000 delegates from various UN member states and other stakeholder agencies and organizations are expected to discuss the sustainability of practices and strategies in reducing disaster risk.#
