Calamba City, Laguna – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CALABARZON, through its Conservation and Development Division,  released one (1) King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah), one (1) White Bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), and two (2) Eastern Grass Owls (Tyto longimembris) at Brgy. Subic Ibaba, Agoncillo, Batangas for the celebration of World Wildlife Day 2022.

Moreover, a Communication, Education, and Public Awareness (CEPA) on Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines (PD 705), Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act (PD 9147), and snake management were discussed to the Local Government Unit and communities in Agoncillo, Batangas.

In addition, to further engage and mobilize the youth for the environmental celebration, the DENR CALABARZON also held a wildlife art workshop, attended by Grade 7-11 students, to introduce the Philippine Flora and Fauna. “Ang ating bansa ay tinatawag na isa sa “World’s Biodiversity Hotspot Areas” sapagkat nandito ang higit 50,000 species ng flora and fauna sa ating bansa. Sila ay may mahalagang papel sa ating pang araw araw na buhay, kaya natin ipinagdiriwang ito. Ang araw na ito is to raise awareness para sa kanila” Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Alfredo Palencia reminded the participants.
