Osorio (left) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization National Project Coordinator Bellrose B. Buraga (right) during the virtual presser held on September 16 in celebration of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer held at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City. Osorio reported on the status of the Philippines’ compliance to the Montreal Protocol and showed that there has been a 68.75% reduction in the Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) consumption compared to its target of 35% for the year 2020. Buraga, on the other hand, discussed the second tranche activities for the Stage II of the HCFC Phase-out Management Plan. The Montreal Protocol is a Multilateral Environmental Agreement that aims to phase out ozone depleting substances to prevent the thinning of the ozone layer, curb the effects of climate change and help boost energy efficiency. ###
