Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Strategic Communication and Initiatives Service Director Hiro V. Masuda (left) holds a short program at the Manila Baywalk on July 14 to express gratitude to around 73 estero rangers for their continuous hard work and support as ‘environmental frontliners’ in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay. The water quality near the beach nourishment project has significantly improved with the fecal coliform level down to 17,000 most probable number per 100 milliliters (mpn/100ml) from as high as 2.2 million mpn/100ml. The program was preceded by a cleanup (inset) joined by the Metro Manila Development Authority, Department of Public Services of the City of Manila, and the Career Executive Service Board. The DENR National Capital Region-West Field Office, Manila Bay Coordinating Office, and the DENR Task Force Tayo ang Kalikasan also participated in the activity initiated by DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu. ###
