Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Field Operations – Luzon, Visayas and Environment Atty. Juan Miguel T. Cuna plants a Balitbitan tree seedling during the launch of the DENR – Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) TUPAD – GUGMA Youth Tree Planting and Clean-Up Program at the Iloilo Esplanade 4 on July 14. In partnership with the office of Congresswoman Julienne Baronda of the Lone District of Iloilo, DOLE, GUGMA Youth, and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the program aims to empower the youth in protecting and conserving the environment. Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora) is a small to medium-sized tree indigenous to the Philippines. Besides the Balitbitan, tree seedlings of balai lamok and salingogon were also planted by the DENR Head Executive Assistant Joaquin Loyzaga and DENR Undersecretary Marilou G. Erni. ##
