The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) led by Strategic Communication and Initiatives Service (SCIS) Director Hiro Masuda (3rd from left, foreground) conducts a mangrove planting activity in Sasmuan Pampanga Coastal Wetland (SPCW) on July 17 in line with the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month. The SPWC was officially declared as a Ramsar Site or Wetland of International Importance site in February 2020. Among the mangrove species planted were bakauan-lalaki (Rhizophora apiculata Blume) and bakauan-babae (Rhizophora mucronata Lamarck). Also present in the activity were officials of Bgy. Batang 2nd in Sasmuan, Pampanga, barangay captain Amanda Coronel and kagawad Vicky Mangalindan (1st and 3rd from right); National Bicycle Organization director Benedict Camara; and Manila Standard circulation manager Edgar Valmorida (extreme left and back, respectively). ###
