Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Field Operations—Luzon, Visayas and Environment Juan Miguel Cuna (middle, seated) signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Bataan Provincial Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III and Abucay Municipal Mayor Ruben Tagle (2nd and 4th from the left, seated) to implement Project TRANSFORM (Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilient and Sustainable Communities through Multistakeholder Engagement) in Abucay, Bataan. The project is one of the flagship initiatives of the DENR that integrates resilience and sustainability through whole-of-society engagement in implementing programs to alleviate poverty, identify and invest in appropriate environmental protection, climate change adaptation and mitigation, disaster risk reduction strategies and public-private partnership. Through Project TRANSFORM, the DENR and its partners will work together to implement the Abucay Mangrove Adoption and Protection Project in Sitio Bakawan Brgys. Wawa and Calaylayan, involving an estimated five hectares of land suitable for mangrove plantation. Other signatories to the MOA include (leftmost) San Miguel Foundation, Inc.
