Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Antonia Loyzaga (4th from left, seated) joins experts on reclamation from government, academe, local government, and civil society organizations during the DENR Experts Forum on Reclamation held on May 8 in Manila. Loyzaga emphasized the need to establish a scientific basis in the assessment of reclamation projects and for these to undergo cumulative impact assessment in consideration of factors such as biodiversity, water quality, flooding and land subsidence. The forum aimed to enable dialogue among experts and stakeholders to get insights on reclamation, identify gaps and entry points on enhancing policies on reclamation, and obtain expert recommendations on enhancing national and local level policies on reclamation. #
