Operatives of the newly-formed Environmental Law Enforcement and Protection Service (ELEPS) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) buckle down to work to confiscate one of the four units of backhoe used in illegal quarrying activities particularly in extracting the mineral andesite, a type of volcanic rock in Sitio Matuod, Barangay Binubusan, Lian, Batangas. The joint operation was conducted by ELEPS, the National Bureau of Investigation Environmental Crime Division, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region 4-A on June 24, 2021. The illegal mineral collectors were charged for violating Section 103 of the Republic Act 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995. ###
