Caancan (left) look at one of the 105 bamboo saplings donated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) on Oct. 12, 2020. Appreciative Mayor Isko said the 55 Iron bamboo (Ferrocalamus) and 50 Thailand bamboo (Bambusa dolichomerithalla) would help enhance green spaces in Manila, provide the people with cleaner air and water, and in the future, help reduce flooding in the city. RED Caancan, on her part, expressed gratitude to the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau and DENR-Calabarzon for their assistance in sourcing the bamboo saplings. Weeks before the donation, on September 21, 2020, Caancan and Domagoso discussed the draft Climate Resilient and Localized Urban Greening Plan for Manila, whose objective is to enhance the green spaces in the city.
