Three critical chokepoints of the 78-kilometer Marikina River at the Riverbanks (from left to right), and behind the BF Corporation and SM City Marikina are now cleaner and wider after the Task Force Build Back Better (TF BBB) was able to dredge 56,526 cubic meters of materials or 74% of the total 69,248 cubic meters for removal. The TF BBB, led by Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu and Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar, has identified these areas to have contributed to the flooding in Marikina City at the onslaught of Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. In addition, a total of 44 encroachments, totaling 199,010 square meters, will be removed by the task force to further clear the river system that flows through Marikina, Pasig and Quezon cities. ###
