Guided by the principle that water is a national asset, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Water Resource Management Office (DENR-WRMO) and the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) that enables the optimum utilization of irrigation water managed by NIA for power generation, bulk water supply, aquaculture, recreation, and tourism. The agreement is in accordance with Executive Order 22 which created the WRMO to ensure the sustainable management of the country’s water resources and bolster water security. The MOA was signed by (leftmost, standing) DENR Undersecretary for Integrated Environmental Science and concurrent WRMO Head Carlos Primo C. David, (from left) Eddie Guillen, Acting NIA Administrator, and Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevarra. ###
