President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. leads the national commemoration of the 160th anniversary of the Philippine Forestry Service with the planting of a Molave seedling (Vitex parviflora) at the Environmental Heroes Park in the Department of Environment and Natural Resources compound in Quezon City. The planting of the Molave, a hardwood tree that is native to the Philippines and known for its capacity to adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions, symbolizes his belief of the need to share responsibility in caring for the environment. The planting also comes on the heels of Philippine Arbor Day, which is celebrated annually on June 25. Looking on are (L-R): Special Assistant to the President, Antonio Lagdameo, Jr.; House Speaker and Leyte First District Martin Romualdez; DENR Secretary Antonia Loyzaga, and Senator Cynthia Villar, who all preceded the President in planting their own seedlings in the same area.
