With levels of fine particle air pollutants down to acceptable levels, Metro Manila enjoys clearer skies and better quality outdoor air or ambient air. A report from the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources recorded a drop of almost 50 percent in the level of particulate matter (PM)2.5 following the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine on March 17 as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19. PM2.5 are fine particles that stay longer in the air, travel farther and enter the body’s airways which may lead to diseases of the heart and lungs. The particles are present in smoke from vehicles and factories. Photo taken on March 22, 2020 in Antipolo City. ###
