Laviña (middle) hold the Plaque of Recognition awarded on June 30, 2020 by DENR-Region 10 for successfully rehabilitating the Panlibatuhan River. Through partnerships, regular community clean-ups, and proper solid waste management, the City Government of Valencia in Bukidnon was able to clean and improve the water quality of the river (“before and after” inset), making it the official entry of Region 10 in the 2020 R.I.V.E.Rs (Recognizing Institutions/Individuals Towards Vibrant and Enhanced Rivers) for Life Award. The DENR is initiating R.I.V.E.Rs for Life Award, which aims to raise public awareness on the need to protect and conserve the country’s rivers. Also in photo is Valencia City-Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) Felicisimo C. Escuadro, Jr. (left), who took the initiative to look for a Class C river that can be rehabilitated and be a potential entry for the Award. #
