(2nd from left), and Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Director William Cuñado (extreme left) affix their signature on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will revive the dirty, stagnant, and heavily silted Mahiga River in Cebu. The MOA, signed on July 21, 2020, is under the Adopt an Estero/Waterbody Program of the DENR, which allows stakeholders and local government unit (LGU) partners to take part in the noble task of rehabilitating and restoring degraded rivers and waterbodies. Other signatories in the MOA are Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, the chairmen of six barangays in Cebu City where the river traverses; and 28 donors/partners from the private sector.
