Cimatu (left) leads the ceremonial planting of bamboo culms along the riverbanks of Barangay Industrial Valley Complex in Marikina City, during the launch of the Marikina River Restoration Project last Feb. 17. As part of its post-disaster initiative, the DENR and the TF BBB will plant bamboo in the three priority areas – Cagayan, Marikina, and Bicol – hardly struck by typhoons in 2020. So far, almost 4,000 bamboo culms have been planted along the Cagayan riverbank and almost 50,000 in different parts of Bicol region.
