Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Antonia Loyzaga (third from left, front row) turns over information, education and communication (IEC) materials that have been translated to Braille to Corazon Salvador, principal of the Philippine National School for the Blind on December 5 at the DENR Central Office. Under the helm of Loyzaga, inclusiveness of all sectors of society have been at the forefront of DENR’s initiatives. Thirteen SPED schools in the country were selected as recipients of the materials. The activity is in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the theme, “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: The role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world.” The translation of the materials to Braille is the first of its kind in DENR history. This aims to enable visually impaired student to gain access to essential ENR communication tools and become partners of the Department in advocating good environmental citizenship.###
