A team from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) visited the Asian Aerospace in Clark, Pampanga on February 8, led by DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga (3rd from left). The visit included a tour of the DC-8 and G-III aircraft of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) guided by NASA’s Tropospheric Composition Program Manager Dr. Barry L. Lefer (leftmost). The two aircraft will be used by five engineers and air specialists from the DENR – Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) and NASA’s top scientists for scientific research flights to understand the Philippines’ local air quality issues, improve interpretation of satellite observations, and develop better air quality models. They were joined by (from left to right) the Republic of Korea Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Lee Sang-hwa, the Republic of Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Tull Traisorat, Malacañang Palace Press Briefer Daphne Osena-Paez, and DENR Undersecretary for Field Operation – Luzon, Visayas, and Environment Juan Miguel Cuna.
