Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Roy A. Cimatu leaves yet another legacy for the 47th Infantry Battalion (47IB), this time something “green” as nature itself by planting a durian seedling on-camp in Tubigon, Bohol. Cimatu, a retired general and former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, headed the 47IB from July 1989 to May 1991 and led a successful fight against insurgents in Panay Island, earning recognition for the group. Cimatu was guest of honor during the 37th founding anniversary of the 47IB. Also in photo are battalion commander Lt. Col. Joel Mallig (in fatigue) and DENR- Central Visayas Regional Director Gilbert Gonzales (right) and other DENR-Bohol personnel. ###
