Cimatu awards special patent to Philippine Army in Cagayan de Oro City

Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu awarded a special patent covering some 43,547 square meters of public land within Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City to the 4th Infantry Division (4ID) of the Philippine Army during its 48th founding anniversary on Friday, February 2, 2018.

The special patent was handed by Cimatu to Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Rolao Joselito Bautista, who turned it over to 4ID Commander, Major Gen. Ronald C. Villanueva.

At the same time, Cimatu also signed the deeds of donation covering 50,000 board feet of confiscated lumber to the 4ID and the 103rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in Kampo Ranao, Marawi City.

Of the total, 4ID got a total of 40,000 board feet while the 103rd IB got the remaining 10,000 board feet. Said lumber donations will be used for the repair and construction of facilities in the two military camps.

Cimatu, who once served as Division Commander of the 4ID, acknowledged the efforts of DENR-Region 10 led by its Regional Director Arleigh J. Adorable in facilitating the awarding of the special patent.

A special patent is awarded by DENR on public land actually occupied and used for public schools, municipal halls, public plazas or parks and other government institutions.

The CARAGA regional office of the DENR facilitated the donation of the lumber, composed mostly of Lauan species. ###
